Most agents start every task with amnesia. Here is what that costs a team, and the three patterns that fix it.

Every agent you deploy today starts each task from zero. It does not remember the customer who asked the same question last week, the decision your team made in a pull request, or the policy that changed in March.
The cost of starting from zero
When a support copilot cannot see the last ticket, it asks the customer to repeat themselves. When a coding agent cannot see why a library was dropped, it proposes the same migration again. Each repeat is small. Across a team, the waste adds up quickly.
The problem is not model quality. It is that the context an agent needs lives in ten different tools, and none of them talk to each other.
Three patterns that fix it
Capture: normalise every source into one stream of memories. Messages, tickets, documents and commits all become the same shape, with the person, the project and the time attached.
Link: connect each memory to the people, projects and decisions it relates to, so a question about Redis finds the incident review and not only the word.
Serve: return ranked, cited context to the agent at the moment it asks, with the source one click away so a human can check it.
What changes when memory is shared
A shared memory turns one-off prompts into continuing work. The agent that closes a ticket today leaves a note the next agent reads tomorrow. None of this requires rewriting your stack, only pointing your agents at one place to remember.
